Portrait: Kiril  KirkovKiril Kirkov is an instructor and a graduate student in the NAU School of Communication. His areas of research include social dynamics, based on global migration, transnationalism and migrant integration, and working with indigenous peoples of the American Southwest. Kiril develops a long-term experimental visual research "New Roots" in Vienna, Austria in collaboration with "Refugees for Refugees" project. Kiril is a member of the American Anthropological Association, Phi Kappa Phi, Delta Phi Alpha, and Phi Theta Kappa honor societies. He is an award winning photographer, and a filmmaker. Kiril has opened three personal photo exhibitions, including 2010's, "Earth Day", held at "Earth and Men" National Museum, Sofia, Bulgaria, 2008’s, "The Treasures of the Garden", held at Sofia University Botanical Garden in Balchik, Bulgaria, and 2007’s “Out Of The Way”, held at City Library, Sofia, Bulgaria. His photography work has been published in different media in Europe and the United States, including the Arizona Highways magazine, and a permanent installation at Flagstaff Pulliam Airport. His collaborative documentary films have been screened in the United States, France, Germany, and Austria. As a former twenty-year solo dancer for the international traveling Bulgarian dance company, “Shopski”, Kiril has traveled extensively throughout Europe, including the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Greece, Romania, Turkey, Spain, Poland, Denmark, Finland, Portugal, Switzerland, Russia and more. Kiril resides in Flagstaff, Arizona.
