It is famous for its collection of succulents and cacti, which includes around 600 species, and the outdoor exposition of large size cacti and succulents spread over 1 decare is the second botanic garden of this type in Europe, the only one similar is based in Monaco. The total number of plant species in all collections is around 3000. The garden is a national centre for rare and endangered species under the Washington Convention. It is a member of the World Council of the Botanic Gardens.
